So after an eventful few days, I am finally back in Saarbrücken...and since I am pooped and I have work tomorrow, I thought I would just give you 10 facts about things that I did or learned since my last post, or things that are upcoming.
1) I spent the weekend in Karlsruhe, and the second I stepped out of the Hauptbahnhof, I knew I was going to love it - the entrance to the zoo is right there!
2) I still cannot say Saarbrücken properly, which is kind of a problem because I live there. Hmm.
3) I can definitely see myself as a student at the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie.
4) There is a man in a different department at work that wears EXTREMELY short shorts.
5) The ZKM Media Museum in Karlsruhe is the most AWESOME museum in existance. That I've been to.
6) Asking your supervisor what you can do once your project is finished (since you will still have 3 weeks left in your internship) results in your supervisor giving you more work NOW, so that you won't finish so early.
7) Germans in my neighbourhood REALLY like music from India.
8) Since I will not be spending Canada Day in Canada, I decided I would spend it at the theatre seeing my first opera! And it is one that I studied in musicology class - Dido and Aeneas.
9) My nose gets sunburnt very easily. Oh wait, I already knew that.
10) I will not have enough weekends this summer to visit all the places that I want to visit. I probably should have been able to predict that.
That's all for now - I will leave you with your Fact of the...Post.
RANDOM GERMAN FACT: Karlsruhe is known as the Fächerstadt, or Fan City, because it was designed so that 32 streets radiate away from the palace at the centre, like the spokes on a wheel or the ribs of a fan. It is also said to be the model city for Washington DC, which was apparently designed the same way.
